AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN TEST

"The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen Test is to ensure that our favorite companion, the dog, can be a respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs.  The program embraces both purebred and mixed-breed dogs . .  " excerpt from the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program Participant's Handbook

DTCSV offers the CGC test at dates between the regular class sessions.  (See schedule below)  Dogs are evaluated by AKC registered CGC evaluators in an indoor setting.

Participants must bring a comb or brush.  Pinch collars, gentle leaders, food and toys are not allowed during the test.

The cost of the evaluation is $12.00 per dog.  There are 10 parts to the test.  Evaluators determine if the dogs pass or need more training.  Dogs who pass all 10 receive a CGC collar tag from DTCSV.  Owners receive a form to send to AKC if they would like to purchase a certificate for an additional $5.00.

Advanced registration is required.  The test will be cancelled if less than five dogs are pre-registered.  To register:  send Name, Dog's Name, Address, Phone or email and a $12.00 check payable to DTCSV to:
